Lodging, Food, and Parking

lodging

We have reserved blocks of rooms at the following hotels. Be sure to mention the Southern Literary Festival:

Hampton Inn, Murfreesboro

325 N Thompson Ln, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 Phone: (615) 890-2424

Double Tree Murfreesboro

1850 Old Fort Pkwy, Murfreesboro, TN 37129 Phone: (615) 895-5555

There are also many great VRBO/Air B&B properties near campus. If you have a large group, these are often more cost effective.

Food

We will have snacks and beverages available for participants; lunch and dinner are on your own, but don’t worry. The Festival is being held at the Keathley University Center, where you can find plenty to eat at McCallie’s on the second floor.  There’s also a Just Love coffee shop conveniently located right next to the Bookfair. If you feel like getting out of the building, there are also options at the SUB food court. We recommend that you don’t leave campus for lunch breaks if you don’t want to be late for your next session!

For dinner, you can eat on campus or we have lots of great options just up Main Street at our charming town square, there’s plenty of fast food up on Rutherford Blvd on the north side of campus, and you can find every chain restaurant you can think of down Old Fort Parkway. But be careful not to get too far away from campus; the traffic in the ‘Boro is epic, especially at rush hour.

Parking

Thursday’s Open Mic event will have open parking at the Phillips Bookstore, so park wherever you like at that building. We will include parking passes in your registration materials that night or on Friday morning.

Friday, parking will be the trickiest because classes will be in session. The main lot at the KUC will be full by 8 am. You are welcome to drop off students there and park in any lot. After 5, all lots are available for parking without permit. The Plenary event is open to the public, so we expect plenty of extra visitors.

Saturday, all lots are available for parking without permit. The Keynote event is open to the public, so we expect lots of extra visitors.
